£25million star: This is why I said "no" to Chelsea and Manchester United

By

New Juventus signing Miralem Pjanic says career progression and trophies are the reasons why he rejected important offers to sign for the Bianconeri.

The 26-year-old signed from Serie A rivals Roma for £25.4million on a five-year contract.

He was a target for Chelsea and Manchester United according to reports in Italy.

He was one of the key players for the Giallorossi last season as they ended their Serie A campaign in third place.

"My career has always been on the rise," Pjanic told Mercato365.

"I grew by taking small steps and I believe this was the right moment to leave Roma and join Juventus.

"I want to win, I want trophies and I hope to do it with Juventus, a very strong team.

"I don't mind the pressure, I know that players like [Andrea] Pirlo and [Michel] Platini all featured for Juve but I want to repay the faith the directors have shown in me.

"I'm at my peak and want to keep progressing here at Juventus."
