Pep Guardiola: Injury update on David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Vincent Kompany

By

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that attacking midfielder David Silva will not face Bournemouth tomorrow.

The Spaniard was absent for City's 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League and will also miss Saturday's game.

Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan made his debut in the Champions League in mid-week and is expected to play his first game in the Premier League when the Citizens take on the Cherries.

"I don't think tomorrow will be enough [for David Silva]," Guardiola said.

"I didn't see the doctor or David. I don't think it's a big, big problem but it happened two days ago so I don't think he'll be able to play.

"We had for the weather one more day regeneration, now we have one less but it is what it is. We have to use the players every few days.

"I'm thinking about it [deploying Ilkay Gundogan] - I don't know.

"He played good but we cannot forget he comes from a long-term injury. We'll see today, we'll talk to the doctors.

"Vincent [Kompany] is close but not yet. We need him. There's a lot of games to come. We need everybody."
